This is my first pass at a test with Br'er Bear. It's the first time I've attempted animating a Disney character. So our next assignment in Maki's class was Rats! We were to do a gang of bully rats that pick on the little guy. I'm trying to put all of my character designs from now on in a vignette - it really helps tell more about the character than just a design alone. So these were pretty fun. I'm a huge fan of Alex Ross ... I absolutely love his artwork for the Justice League. His style reminds me a little bit of another one of my favorite artists, John Singer Sargent. Well, 2nd Year at CalArts is off and running ... This is pretty much my first assignment for this semester from Rik Maki. We were supposed to create a bug, 3 heads tall and put it into some poses he gave us in class (baseball images, of course).I tried a pass with color, but I wasn't too excited with the results.
